South Central Release Outcomes

South Central Correctional Center, also called SCCF in state material, is a Tennessee state prison operated for TDOC under contract by CoreCivic. Its prisoners are not entries in Wayne County Jail's live booking system merely because the prison sits in Wayne County. When someone leaves SCCF, the event remains part of the statewide correctional record.

A physical departure may lead to an approved parole plan, probation or another form of community supervision, inactive status after the relevant sentence event, transfer to another TDOC or contract prison, or custody under another authority. A Board of Parole grant authorizes release only after required conditions and planning are complete. It is not proof of the date the prison door opened. Likewise, the word inactive is TDOC's status label and should not be stretched into a claim that no hold, case, or other supervision exists.

Confirm South Central Release Records

The Tennessee Felony Offender Information Lookup, known as FOIL, is the principal online route. TDOC says it covers felony offenders currently or formerly in its custody or under its supervision. Results may include a photograph, status, location, offenses, sentence details, parole-hearing information, and release information. That scope makes it far more useful for a former South Central prisoner than Wayne's current county-jail portal.

1. Open the official FOIL application from the TDOC page and search with the person's name or TOMIS identifier.
2. Compare more than the name. Use the TOMIS number, date information, offenses, and past or present location to select the correct person.
3. Open the detail and transcribe each status, release, eligibility, expiration, hearing, and location label exactly as TDOC presents it.
4. Determine whether the record shows an actual completed release, a future calculation, parole or probation supervision, or a transfer.
5. For parole, confirm that release-plan approval and physical release occurred. Contact the assigned field office when the record supports supervision.
6. If the online result is missing or too old, request the existing movement, release, sentence, and discharge records from TDOC Records Management.

South Central Record Date Labels

Future and past dates answer different questions. A release eligibility date may mark when parole consideration can begin under the governing sentence rule. A sentence expiration date marks another legal boundary. A projected or tentative date is a calculation that may change. An actual release date paired with a released or inactive record is stronger evidence that TDOC recorded a completed custody event.

A forward-looking calculation affected by credits, discipline, sentence changes, holds, and other events.

Do not rename a FOIL field for convenience. If the live record says Release Eligibility Date, report that phrase. If it says Sentence Expiration Date, do not call it the projected release date. The conviction offense, offense date, range, credits, consecutive terms, detainers, and parole action can all affect the timeline.

The operator's current facility listing gives the physical location and main telephone below. TDOC's current visitation directory separately lists its scheduling contact and hours. Visitation channels do not issue release records, and a visit appointment is not a release-verification call. Use the main facility number for current routing and TDOC Records Management for archived records.

For an archive request, use the TDOC archived-record channel or write to Tennessee Department of Correction, ATTN: Records Management, Rachel Jackson Building, 2nd Floor, 320 6th Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37243-0465. TDOC gives 615-253-8079 for records questions.

Include contact details, the reason for the request, full name, TOMIS number, date of birth, Social Security number when available and appropriate, and a detailed description of the existing records. Ask for movement history, actual release or discharge entry, sentence data, and the location or supervision status relevant to the event. Archive-search charges may apply. TDOC instructs requesters not to send payment in advance.

South Central Parole Verification

The Tennessee Board of Parole conducts parole hearings, while TDOC manages community supervision. A scheduled hearing shows that consideration is planned. A hearing officer recommendation remains nonbinding. Board members may adopt, change, or reject it, and a grant can still depend on an approved plan and other steps. None of those points alone gives the actual SCCF release time.

FOIL may show parole-hearing status. The Board's schedule page says schedules are updated weekly on Monday, or Tuesday after a Monday holiday, and the current route is an email request to BD.HearingSchedules@tn.gov. Schedules can change. No official statewide public name-search database for Board decisions was verified in the research. Use the Board notice, an appropriate record request, and FOIL instead of relying on a claimed decisions portal.

After an actual release into supervision, Wayne County is served by TDOC District 51 at 1004 Buffalo Road in Lawrenceburg. The office serves Giles, Lawrence, and Wayne counties and can be reached at 931-766-1420. Privacy and operating rules may restrict details staff can disclose about one person.

Wayne County's State-Prison Divide

South Central creates a distinctive two-system issue in Wayne County. A person bonded from Wayne County Jail is researched first through the sheriff's booking record and trial court. A former SCCF prisoner is researched through FOIL, TDOC release or discharge records, the Board of Parole, and community supervision. Using the wrong system can turn a correct no-result into a false conclusion.

This is also why the county's Last 24 Hour Admits and Last 7 Days Admits buttons do not help with SCCF releases. They concern county bookings, not state-prison exits. The county portal's absence of a person has no bearing on whether TDOC transferred, paroled, or discharged that person.

Search engines can mix Wayne County, Tennessee with other states. Verify Tennessee, the TDOC agency name, the TOMIS identifier, and the Clifton facility before accepting a match. A similar name or an old facility reference is not enough.

South Central Release Notifications

Tennessee VINE adds an event-notification channel for people in TDOC custody. Search Tennessee in VINELink by name or offender identifier, compare the facility and identifying details, and register for the release or custody alerts offered by the live system. Telephone, email, text, TTY, or app choices may be available. Keep the confirmation and note the person, facility, and alert types attached to it.

A VINE message is useful evidence that the supplying agency reported an event, but it is not a permanent South Central discharge record. Save the exact event language and timestamp. Then compare the alert with FOIL and request the underlying TDOC release or movement entry when the type or destination matters. “Release” from SCCF may still be followed by supervision or another custodian.
